'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sir Alex A Happy Man

Manchester United's bid for another treble remains on, with Sir Alex Ferguson of the opinion that the current United crop is better than the class on '99!

A 2-1 victory over Reading at Old Trafford was secured on Monday night thanks to second half goals from Nani, who was named the man of the match, and Javier Hernandez.

Ferguson feels that perhaps the game could have been more comfortable than it was, especially with the late goal conceded but was left happy enough, he said: 'It was a good Cup tie. It ended up a really good Cup tie when they got the goal and had a really good go at it.

'When they got the goal, they then got the ball in the box. We withstood that and I think when you analyse it, we played some great football and should have scored a lot of goals tonight.

'We missed some chances but there were shots saved and I'm really satisfied with the quality of the game.

'A goal can change things and when we got it, we had to defend well. We really should have punished them better, though. At 2-0 you're never comfortable.'

The win sets up a potential quarter final meeting with Chelsea but whoever United play Ferguson is more than happy with a home tie, adding: 'When you look at these draws, you just hope for a home quarter final. You can't ask for any more than that.'

Of course a drawback was the injury to Phil Jones.

Wasn't a happy man before the goal then again it did seem like it was going to be one of those games where you get undeservedly knocked out up until the goal.

Didn't seem that happy all the way throughout the game
