Van Persie on Last Night

Although we`re appreciative of the fact that we`ve grabbed an honourable draw in the Bernabeu and that we`re favourites to go through, on reflection we could be home and dry.

Last night, the usually lethal Robin van Persie had three decent chances to almost put the game out of Real Madrid`s range but the Dutchman couldn`t capitalize on ay of them.

After the game, Van Persie gave his thoughts on the night, remarking,

"It could have gone either way. We had some good chances and if you said 1-1 at the start we would have taken it."

"I had three chances in the second half, especially just after I hit the bar, It was a big chance and I should have put it in. - I slightly miss-kicked it."

"Yes, we have a slight advantage."

"At this level I don`t think these types of teams care if they play home or away."

"We don`t care, they don`t care. It`s half-time and we`re ready for the second half."

It`s just a shame we`ve got to wait two weeks for it, isn`t it!

We would be firm favourites in this 2nd leg had RVP took his chances. Really wasn't his clinical self then again I don't think his been at his clinical best all season for us. You know you've got quality on your hands though when despite not being at his clinical best his goals per game record is nearly 1.0. Hopefully in the home game he can put Madrid to bed.
