Ferguson Gets It Right Again

Last night, not fortunate enough to be in the Bernabeu, I had to make do with the coverage provided by the television companies.

Watching various text feeds, it was interesting to see that several people, before the kick-off, were questioning Sir Alex Ferguson`s selection of Danny Welbeck, with many suggesting that Javier Hernandez was a more suitable choice.

Some supporters sprung to his defence suggesting that Sir Alex had gone for Welbecks work-rate and ability to hold up the ball, a theory that many accepted.

Now, after the game, I`d imagine that the majority would agree that Sir Alex got his selection of Welbeck spot on.

The striker rewarded the gaffer with the vital away goal, doubling his tally for the season, but his unselfish running, his ability to hold the ball-up and his surges forward were evidence that the boss had, once again, called this perfectly.

There's a lot of fans guilty of underestimating not only welbecks ability and what he offers to the team but also his potential. Many forgot he's only 22 and has plenty of time on his side to get better. As soon as he improves his composure, technique and finishing we've got one great striker in our most. Its just a case of whether he keeps working hard, learns from those around him and improves these skills.
