'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tonight Is The Night!

Does this game really need building up?

I`m sure I don`t have to do much to sell it to you. I reckon any United fan worth his weight in salt (where did that saying come from) will be going out of his / her way to ensure, if they`re not in Madrid, to tune in to watch this clash of the heavyweights.

The Bernabeu is set to witness a classic as two heavyweights of the European stage go head-to-head in a last 16 of the Champions League. Throw into the mixer the fact that it pitches two of the best manager sin the game head-to-head, only serves to make the occasion even bigger.

Perhaps, the best summary of what lies ahead comes from Sir Alex Ferguson who commented at his pre-match press conference interview,

"This is the acid test, no doubt about that, and we have to get through to win this competition."

"This is so important to both clubs, we cannot think of failing."

But, with the pundits inferring the current United team isn`t as good as those that have competed in the Champions League before, Sir Alex added,

"They have a great spirit about them."

"People say this one is not as good as the teams of the past but sometimes you can have foggy recollections of teams from the past - I do myself."

"But this team doesn`t know when it is beaten, which is a good asset, and it has some quality players too."

And as for his old friend, in the opposite dug-out, Sir Alex further remarked,

"Jose Mourinho summed up this tie perfectly; it`s a game everyone has waited for."

"It`s a fantastic challenge, two clubs who embrace the best parts of football."

With so much at stake, here at Vital Manchester United, we reckon it`ll be a cagey affair with neither team risking all leaving it all to play for in the second leg at Old Trafford!
