Ferguson`s Praise for Saints!
In his programme notes, Sir Alex touched on the sacking of the Southampton manager, Nigel Adkins.
After the 2-1 victory last night, a victory that we, in all honesty, had to hang on for, Sir Alex was fulsome in his praise of a side that pushed us all the way and could have taken a point (or possibly three), commenting,
"We were fortunate to win but winning is the name of the game at this stage of the season."
"In my experience when you are going for championships there`s always a game when you say we were a bit lucky - and I think this was one of those nights."
"In the second half Southampton put in the best performance anyone has put in here this season."
It`s also worth pointing out that Southampton, last night, 20 shots (including those that were blocked) which is 9 more than United mustered!
