Sir Alex Enthuses About the Performance

Having beaten the old enemy on Sunday, although it was closer than it should have been, Sir Alex Ferguson was positively purring about the performance after the game.

Speaking to the press, after the 2-1 win, Sir Alex remarked,

"The first-half performance and up until we scored the second goal we were absolutely magnificent."

"It as good a performance as we have had for a long time."

"We would have taken that score before the game but when they got a goal they got inspired, their crowd got going and it was hard after that."

"I`m just glad to win the match."

And so are we, every point counts at the moment as we try to hold Manchester City at bay!

Far from our clinical best though and had we been at our clinical best the game would've been seen off comfortably regardless of whether they scored. Do wish Welbeck would start taking finishing lessons from those around him, his finishing is so inconsistent you wouldn't believe that he can score back heel flicks and the sort when he bears down on goal just to put a one-on-one ch and completely wide.
