'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Scholes Stokes the Fires!

He may be in the twilight stages of his second Manchester United career but Paul Scholes has enough savvy about him to know how to play this mind-game business.

With a clash against Liverpool looming this weekend, Scholes has wasted little time in putting our noisy-neighbours in their places by inferring that clashes with Liverpool will always carry more rivalry than clashes with Manchester City.

Speaking to the media, Scholes has stoked the proverbial fires by remarking,

"It`ll probably take years for City to create what Liverpool have done."

"Liverpool historically are our biggest rivals, they`re always the biggest games and the best atmospheres."

"Liverpool probably haven`t done as well as they`d liked over the last few years - and they`d probably admit that."

"But it`s definitely still right up there, it will always be right up there."

"Whether Manchester City have overtaken Liverpool now, I don`t know."

What`s the verdict?

Do you consider Liverpool fixtures to be bigger than those against our local neighbours or have City, with their recent success (?) eclipsed Liverpool in the big game stakes?

Your views would be most appreciated.

Nowadays the Liverpool derby is just for bragging rights whereas the city game tends to have so much more riding on it and its due to the importance of the city games, and the fact that they typically are better football matches, that I prefer the Manchester derby.

Manchester derby is the biggest for me back in the day it was Liverpool but they've dropped out of contention if they were still regularly competing for the title maybe it'd be a different story. Still a massive game though the atmosphere is cracking especially at Anfield you can feel the hatred emanating from the Kop

More to the point, does anyone care?

Doubt anyone does fcb I reckon its just a pathetic attempt at trying to rile some feathers.
