Absolutely Shocking

Absolutely Shocking

The scenes that followed United`s winner, whereby Rio Ferdinand was struck by a missile from the crowd, provided an unsavoury ending to a classic fixture.

With blood streaming from a cut just above his eye, Rio can, in some ways, be thankful that the idiot who threw the missile didn`t aim half an inch lower.

Here at Vital Manchester United, we sincerely hope that the cowardly person who threw the missile is apprehended by the law and given the punishment he deserves.

Can't let one tarnish the name of the whole bunch, hopefully the idiot is caught. Hopefully this means some city fans will get off their high horse regarding fan hooliganism.

Absolute moron it's idiots like this who gives all football fans a bad name. Unfortunately every team has them mindless bloody Neanderthals that seem determined to drag football back dark days of hooliganism.

Absolutely correct all the above comments, no-one should throw anything onto the pitch. I'm a Swansea fan and we had an idiot making racist gestures against Bassong of Norwich on Saturday...totally mindless. One thing though, I couldn't see properly but was Rio Ferdinand celebrating in the faces of the City fans? If so he should be taken aside and reminded of his responsibliities.

Wouldn't celebrating anywhere on an opposition pitch be celebrating in an opposing fans face? Hope Paddy Crerand don't come on here and see you've wrote that he'll go off on one!

City fans were throwing coins at any united player in range phil, provoked or not. Like MotorMad said its impossible to celebrate a goal away from home without being the face of some fans, even if you were to run all the way to the away support you'll still be infront of plenty of home supporters. From what I understand they were throwing away their euros seeing as they don't need them anymore :P

The people who threw the coins at Wio, have been arested, AND Charged, but when it gets to court, city will be unable to find the Stewards name and address, as witnesses will be needed or the case will collapse.... SOUND FAMILIAR, LADS, as that happened when a bottle was thrown at Bellamy at OT when a Budweiser bottle was thrown and HIT him, double standards never?, not that i am condoning anything thrown onto any field of play, BUT THE WITCH HUNT NEEDS TO STOP NOW.... or do you like playing' the victim and never the cause'.......

TF7, you're talking absolute bollox now. The away fans were down at pitch level at the end the goal was scored yet U*d players purposely ran to City fans to goad them, like I said before throwing anything at players is a cowardly act but as professionals the players have a responsibility to not deliberately incense opposition fans. You're the one talking about high horses and then you have the neck to spout that bollox, I thought better of you, obviously I was wrong. A quote from the FA following a City player doing what U*d players did on Sunday ‘Such celebrations are unacceptable and have the potential to cause a serious public order incident.’
11/12/2012 22:37:00
Touchy touchy Bluedub I was simply saying that coins were being thrown at whoever was in range therefore this whole provoked business is bollox or I suppose everytime a player stepped up to take a corner they were provoking the city fans? Rio wasn't right in what he done but all the same seeing as your fans were throwing coins before that you can hardly say you was provoked. cityman an what are you going on about double standards? It would actually require us too tut down on your club for doing so but as of yet myself personally haven't heard or seen anyone, let alone united fans in particular, doing that. We've never denied fan hooliganism in our club your fanbase is the one that likes to talk of how 'classy' they are.
12/12/2012 08:15:00
Rio's celebrating didn't start the metallic rain I remember Rooney pointing out the coin throwing while trying to take a corner much earlier in the match. But fair play to city and the majority of their fans they have condemned the culprits. As for the witch hunt cityman it's not us but the national press and the suits at the FA you should be upset at with their vicious combination of stirring and bandwagon jumping.
