Baines or Cole?

The apparent pursuit of a new left-back continues to throw up the name of Leighton Baines.

Over the weekend we reported how it is believed that Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking to tempt the international away from Goodison Park, once the January transfer window opens.

Well today it transpires that one news source is reporting that Sir Alex has opted to chase 27 year-old Baines after opting not to go for Chelsea`s soon to be out of contract, 31 year-old Ashley Cole.

If the stories are true, do you agree with Sir Alex or would you rather we went for Cole than Baines?

Cole seems to be in the same boat as Evra, well at least to me anyway. Both were at one time the best fullback in world football but age and an over reliance on them has left them very average. No doubt Baines is the better fullback these days but his price is a massive stumbling block whereas Cole will be free but then again they don't call him 'Cashley' for nothing, his wage demands will far exceed what we'd be willing to offer and what Baines would demand. Personally think if we do sign another fullback it would be one that surprises everyone though I can't see it happening, not in the LB position at least.

God not Cole like famous said he's gone the same way as Evra. Would like to see us sign Baines but can't see it happening not while Fabio is still on the books
