50 Million Investment?

Reports are rife, in one red-top publication, relating to Manchester United splashing out 50 million this summer.

It seems that United are looking at making a double swoop for the Bundesliga stars - Mats Hummels and Lars Bender.

Hummels has impressed United with his impressive displays at the heart of the Borussia Dortmund defence whilst Bender has impressed with his attacking midfield displays for Bayer Leverkusen.

Both players are still only 23 years of age and valued at 25 million each but a sticking point, as the red top points out, is that both players are currently tied to long term contracts!

Hummels yeah but Bender no. Hummels would hopefully offer some stability in defence as he's not injury prone and is young meaning he's less susceptible to recurring injuries. He's also a class act, something we're missing when Vidic isn't playing. Then again it's whether he can adjust to the English game and get on with his defensive partner. Bender is a good player but I really do not rate him at 25 mil. Think we could do a lot better with the money.

Both good players but can you imagine the urine samples taken if you got a shirt with Bender on the back
