Targeting a Century of Goals

As we head off to Villa Park today, Sir Alex Ferguson has been discussing the subject of goals.

Having scored 26 with a quarter of the season gone, Sir Alex is casting his eye towards the magical 100 Premier League goals in a season.

It may be a tall order, even more so with so much of the season left, but it is possible, seeing as United came close once before or as Sir Alex puts it,

"We have 15 goal-scorers this year and it`s definitely helping us at the moment."

"I look back to that season in 2000, when we were three goals short of 100 in the Premier League."

"The last game was at Villa Park, when we had the opportunity to get to 100 but didn`t quite make it."

"It would be nice to think we could do that. But the satisfying thing for me is the goals around the team. To have 15 different scorers is quite healthy."

"It`s getting ridiculous now because Jonny Evans and Patrice Evra have scored two - they`ve doubled their tally in their careers."

"But we`ll take them from anyone. As long as the strikers are scoring and we are winning matches, it doesn`t matter who gets the goals."

Can we reach that magical milestone?

Your thoughts please!

A century of goals is a real possibility considering the strike force. RVP is a definite 20 goal a season striker and even beyond that. Rooney is a thereabouts one, he'll be close to it or just over it. Hernandez is an out and out poacher and should grab 20 especially considering his form. Welbeck is great in build-up play and linking up and is perhaps our best aerial threat he just struggles to find the net but even then we should expect around the 15 mark. Add to that the goals Nani, Valencia, Young and Kagawa are likely to get its a certainly a reachable target. Would like to see us stop conceding goals though, no point trying to improve our goal difference by scoring more if we're conceding more, kind of defeats the point.
