Rooney Eager to Play!

Rooney Eager to Play!

England are soon to take part in a prestigious friendly against Sweden.

We understand that our participation is part of the celebrations relating to the Swedes official opening of their new National Stadium.

But, following on from the 1-1 draw in Warsaw, there is the possibility that Roy Hodgson may rest vital members of his usual starting eleven in order to keep them fresh for a World Cup qualification programme that is in serious danger of being derailed.

However, having captained the side against San Marino, before offering a somewhat disappointing display against Poland that saw him withdrawn in the second half, our own Wayne Rooney insists he wants to play in the friendly, commenting to the press hacks,

"Of course I want to play. I want to play all the games, if that`s possible."

"Hopefully, I can stay in good form and the manager will pick me."

I`d say that last sentence may have more bearing on whether Rooney is picked rather than the first.

How about you?
