Welbeck to be Dropped?

There`s a strange rumour doing the rounds this morning!

It emanates from a certain tabloid and suggests that Danny Welbeck could be left out of the England starting eleven tonight, against Poland.

The inference being that Roy Hodgson intends switching a few things around and going with Jermaine Defoe up front.

Will Roy choose to drop the player who scored twice against San Marino and is the player who has netted the most international goals, 4, since Hodgson took over the managerial role?

Well stranger things have happened in this game of ours is all I`ll say!

Defoe isn't the better footballer, in fairness he has reinvented himself a little but his link up play, dribbling, passing, technique and aerial skills aren't anywhere near welbeck's level. However, he's certainly the better goalscorer. I think using Defoe will show Hodgsons mentality going into the game, ultra-defensive and try to catch them on the break. Sad really seeing as whilst Poland is a good side, England should still be dominating this sort of opposition.
