Cleverley Making Progress

If young Tom Cleverley had avoided that run of injuries, that kept him out of the first team picture for so long last season, could United have headed off that City title challenge?

On the basis of his early season form some would say definitely yes!

This season Tom continues to ensure that his career takes more giant strides forward and has managed to force his way, at the age of twenty-three, into the England squad.

Talking about his progress and his emergence as a potential cog in the England engine room, Tom had this to say from the England camp that is preparing for vital World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland,

"Everyone knows I had some injuries last season so to be at United and in the England squad is something that I`m hugely proud of."

"I`m very excited about the future. We have only had the opening couple of months of the season but I have played at massive stadiums in some huge games already."

"So it is all very good in terms of gaining experience."

There`s no doubting that Tom faces a huge fight to nail down a place in the England midfield with Roy Hogson having a plethora of talent he can call upon, including Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, Parker, Wilshere, but if anyone can do it then Tom can!

Him and Welbeck both need to work on their finishing, hopefully they learn a thing or two whilst on international duty. Both get into or craft great goal scoring positions but are far from prolific in front of goal. Would help the team a load if they could inf the net on some of the numerous occasions they're in front of goal.

Have to agree famous neither of them is a particularly natural finisher and need to work on their end product.
