A Moment of Genius or a Stroke of Luck?

A Moment of Genius or a Stroke of Luck?

With United leading 2-0, up at St James Park, but with Newcastle trying their hardest to get back into the game, Tom Cleverley`s second ever goal for the club settled matters firmly in our favour.

But was his second ever goal a moment of sublime skill or was it simply a piece of good forturne?

Reading two comments attributed to Tom, you get the impression he`s being a little cagey with the truth with Tom, reportedly, having said,

"Luckily the goal went in this time and I will take a goal however it goes in."

"I looked up - and I meant it as I saw the keeper a bit of his line."

See what I mean?

But then again you`d hardly expect Tom to admit that it was more about luck than judgment would you!

Strangely enough, Tom has only gotten on the score-sheet twice for Manchester United with both his goals coming against the bar-codes, but should Tom be getting on the score-sheet on a more regular basis?

The player himself thinks so adding,

"It`s amazing as the two goals I have scored for Manchester United have both been against Newcastle!"

"But this season it feels like I am really getting into scoring positions."

"I got into a couple against them when the ball has been pulled back to me - and all I can do is keep working on my finishing because it is such an important part of any midfielder`s game."

When you look around and see how many goals some his midfield rivals get, notably Lampard and Gerrard, it is an aspect of his game that does need improving in time, but time is something Tom has on his side seeing a she`s still a fledgling 23 year-old.

Stroke of luck. He done well to see RVP's run and attempt to pick out a pass but the cross was wayward and fortunately ended up in the net. An easy on the eye goal but certainly not a moment of genius. If he had meant it it would've been all the more special but i think people can tell the difference between a fluke and moment of genius.

I'm putting it down to luck you could see him telling the other lads when celebrating that he didn't mean to do it. Though in fairness if he hadn't have got it in RVP would have probably buried it
