It`s Over For Rio

It`s Over For Rio

One red-top is reporting that Roy Hodgson let the cat out of the bag on a London Tube train of all things.

It reports that when asked by a fare paying passenger if he was going to recall Rio Ferdinand to the international side, he replied,

"I very much doubt it. He hasn`t played for England for quite a while."

"I have to say it is over for him and England. It has got to be the end of the road. He is pushing 34 and hasn`t played for England for a long, long time."

If the story is true I can`t help thinking some code of etiquette has been broken here!

Not really on should have at least picked up the phone and had a word with Rio. Shades of the Capello Beckham farce can see where he is coming from with the reasons though. Would be best if Roy draws a line under the Rio and Terry era and sticks with younger players who will be playing in future tournaments

Apparently he did try giving rio a call but understandably rio didn't answer. Think this is just another sign that woy is out of his depth. Personally would love to see him stop selecting Lampard also seeing as his performances at club level are worse than Rio's but hey, the man must see something we don't. Well he certainly must do anyway to keep on selecting the same dross that underperform every tournament. Rio, just retire from international football you're clearly not valued there.
