Ferguson Hints on Rio's Future

Ferguson Hints on Rio's Future

Yesterday, watched by Roy Hodgson, Rio Ferdinand had one of those games he`d rather forget, as Spurs won at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989.

However, talk of Rio returning to the England squad, after the retirement of John Terry, is still prominent.

But, Sir Alex Ferguson seems to be hinting that Rio might be better concentrating on club football, rather than international football, if he wants to secure a new deal, with the wily old Scot remarking,

"He could do he job for England, I have no doubt about that."

"But I don`t see why he should. I think he should concentrate on his career here. I would prefer that, though I wouldn`t stand in his way. It is his decision. But I don`t think it is actually correct that he wants to play for England again."

Does Sir Alex know something we don`t?
