Beware - Competition!

Beware - Competition!

The recent arrival of Alex Buttner has shown that Sir Alex Ferguson is always looking to bolster the squad and provide competition for places.

Buttner had an inspirational debut and is set to provide Patrice Evra with fierce competition for that left-back spot, prompting the French defender to remark about the situation,

"People forget how quickly I became United`s left back. Gabriel Heinze and Mikael Silvestre were here when I arrived."

"I have fought with two great left backs. I will keep doing that."

"I will keep fighting. You have to fight for your place every day. If you don`t play well you are on the bench."

Precisely how it should be!

Wasn't Heinze removed to sunny Spain one season after Evra arrived due to his insistence on joining Liverpool. As for Silvestre the less said about his ability to drop a bollock the better. Yeah massive competition for the left back position Evra congratulations

Exactly how it should be but how it hasn't been for 3 or 4 years now. I suppose when Evra was in his prime we didn't have to worry too much about the position as he was giving it his all season in, season out and his fitness levels and injury record are outstanding. Obviously after all those years his got a bit cosy and isnt putting in those world class performances like he use to so Buttner could well be the kick up the arse he needs.
