Arsenal tried to sell Cole to United

The Sun newspaper have sensationally claimed today that a source close to Ashley Cole has told them that Arsenal were prepared to sell the England stopper...to anyone but Chelsea!

In probably the most boring transfer saga ever to drift on and on, lets face it nobody truly cares *that* much about 'The Coles' this is just another boring twist, but I have to report about it.

It is believed that Cole wanted to go to Chelsea, Arsey Wenger said he could go somewhere, and David Dein (Arsenal Vice Chairman) decided he wasn't joining Red Rom's Chelsea revolution.

The 'Close Pal' said: "Ashley was adamant he was going, so Dein said they would try to sell him to Manchester United or Newcastle.

"Ashley could not see how he could work out a deal with United as they had Gabriel Heinze'

Too right, we're sorted thanks. Anyway, this surely keeps Wenger happy, another Frenchman to add to his collection at the Emirates Stadium.

I count 6, and a small collection of West Africans in your first team squad. Only 5 English players, and that includes some guys I don't think anyones ever heard of.

Well if wenger enjoyed being mugged off to the tune of 18 million for a pretty average englishmen like carrick (who cost just 2.5 million two years ago) then I am sure he would have signed more english/british players. However he prefers to pay prices like 250k for quality like cesc.
