'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Letter From Sir Alex

Tomorrow, the world will be watching as two fierce rivals clash at Anfield.

Ahead of the clash, both clubs have done their bit to ensure that the clash goes off without anything untoward.

To try and keep the clam and ensure the occasion is treated with the respect it deserves, Sir Alex Ferguson has penned a letter which will be handed out to every United supporter as they pass through the Anfield turnstiles.

It is worded as such:-

Dear Supporter

The great support you gave the team here last season has seen our allocation back up to near-full levels. I want you to continue that progress today.

But today is about much more than not blocking gangways. Today is about thinking hard about what makes United the best club in the world.

Our rivalry with Liverpool is based on a determination to come out on top - a wish to see us crowned the best again against a team that held that honour for so long.

It cannot and should never be base don personal hatred. Just ten days ago we heard the terrible, damning truth about the deaths of 96 fans who went to watch their team try and reach the FA Cup final and never came back.

What happened to them should wake the conscience of everyone connected with the game.

Our great club stand with our great neighbours Liverpool today to remember that loss and pay tribute to their campaign for justice. I know I can count on you to stand with us in the best traditions of the best fans in the game.

Yours sincerely
Sir Alex Ferguson
Manager

Will Evra start for you guys tomorrow?
cfc250
Evra will most probably start yeah and why shouldn't he? Suarez has been the one with a chip on his shoulder but hopefully that's all put to bed by a handshake pre-game, it needs no more attention. Also reckon Fergie will opt for Evra over Büttner simply because whilst Büttners debut was brilliant he knows that was against Wigan and Liverpools a far better side who possess more threat going forward. Not to mention this is a derby game and the pre-game ceremony will most probably really amp up Liverpools squad and its requires as much experience as possible as there's too much risk fielding young blood, it would be too much of a trial by fire for them.

i'm hoping that we will be talking about the football rather than songs sang, wether suarez shakes evra's hand or not.... being the first game at anfield since the report was releast, i'm expecting an electric atmosphere not just because it's utd but alot of emotions will be unleashed 23 years of it. im really hoping all these songs are left in the passed, banter is banter singing about people who cant be with us today is just out right DISRESPECTFUL. I think to set the tone of the game suarez & evra should shake hands hands that would put that to bed and help with the respect on this big occasion. this happening would show the rest of the world that english football has come along way over the years.... i would love a win and with the electric atmosphere everyone is expecting, it can but i would take a draw right now after the start we have had. I'm going for 1-1

Just hope the idiots don't start. In fairness though it's the minority on both sides brainless morons who can't distinguish between rivalry and hatred we've both had our share of heartache but Hillsborough is on a whole new level nobody should die to watch their team

Well after playing weel below Par we come away with 3 points not a bad day at the office but we need a stable midfileld lineup .

Pity your fans ignored ferguson innit?

P.S. No way can that be dismissed as a minority of fans either.

The "where's your famous Munich song?" Chant looked to antagonise the Liverpool fans but fair play to them none of them bought into it and came out the better men for it. Heck, even the away support come to their senses and realised it was making them out to look like douches and the chants subsided relatively quickly. Throughout the game there was no actual chants disrespecting either of the clubs tragic moments in history. Only when a few liverpool fans made aeroplane gestures were those chants heard fcb, not uncommon for you to try and put us in a bad light with only half a story though eh?
TheFamousNo7
So the chants of "Murderers" is in no way disrespectful to those that died at Heysel?
fifthcolumnblue
You must've missed the "throughout the game there was no actual chants disrespecting either of the clubs tragedy" line. Offensive chants occurred at the end of the game fcb, in retaliation to the pathetic scum that made aeroplane gestures but like I said don't feel like you have to tell the whole story, just cut to the bits that make us look bad. Have you been on vitalliverpool to condemn the actions of the fans that made aeroplane gestures to our away contingency which actually sparked it all? Even better that you get on a high horse when your own fans are guilty of chanting Munich disaster chants but hey do we flog that at you or realise that it wasn't the fanbase as an entirety but rather just a few idiots?
TheFamousNo7
Famous, stop digging. I'm not accusing you personally of singing anything offensive, but it doesn't matter one jot when the songs were sung, and whether they were a response to the scouse fans' goading. They are wrong, full stop and should be condemned, not defended. Anyone who sings about Munich is a d1ckhead, just as anyone that sings about MV Foe, Heysel or any other tragedy.
fifthcolumnblue
Fcb I'm not defending it I'm just saying it wasn't done out of cold blood or hatred but in retaliation, something the YouTube video doesn't tell. Personally think you're being too kind calling them dickheads :P Though I do agree fully.

Our fans again! Ah fifth them blue tinted glasses of yours must be like jam jar bottoms. Inexcusable behavior on both sides hope those responsible are given lifelong match bans scouse and manc alike. Nice to see the Twitter cancer taunts directed at the ref though probably from the very same morons that kicked off the chants scum.
