Penalty Woe

Twelve yards out, just the keeper to beat, it should be relatively simple shouldn`t it!

Well apparently not seeing as United have now missed the last three penalties they`ve been awarded.

Last night, against Galatasaray, Nani was the latest to fail from twelve yards out with a poorly taken effort.

After the game, Sir Alex Ferguson was at a miss as to why Nani had taken the spot-kick, remarking,

"To be honest I have no idea why Nani took it."

"I think he just ran and grabbed the ball. Robin should have taken it."

"We will have to decide before the game in future. That was my fault, I should have done that."

"Missing that penalty kept Galatasaray in the game."

It did and you`d have thought that such matters as who is taking any penalties awarded would have been settled.

But the scorer of the winning goal last night, Michael Carrick, came up with a unique angle on the predicament, commenting,

"The manager will have something to say but each time we`ve missed one we`ve gone on and won the game."

"Hopefully, next time we get one we`ll put it away."

We`d like to think so wouldn`t we!

ITs called karma. When you dive for a penalty......

I would put it down to arrogance myself. Nani attempted a Ronaldo penalty in some sort of ridiculous delusion that he's anywhere near as good as him. I think anyone who takes a penalty for us needs to pick their spot and stick to it rather than trying fancy penalties with small chips and stalling the run up.

Not sure what Nani had going through his mind absolutely idiotic. Penalty misses like that give the opposition a boost it's no surprise that galatasaray gained confidence and made for a very nervy game after it. Had we been two goals up it would have been a different story
