Van Persie Injury Scare

The greatest fear with regards to international football is that those serving their country return to Old Trafford with an injury that will keep them on the sidelines.

Already this week we`ve conveyed our fears over Jonny Evans playing with pan-killing injections to serve the Northern Ireland cause and last night those tuning in to watch Holland play Hungary would have felt their hearts skip a beat.

The reason being that Robin Van Persie limped off with what appeared to be a muscle injury as the Dutch strolled to a fine 4-1 win.

Thankfully, it doesn`t appear as if Van Persie will miss any forthcoming games as the Dutch coach, Louis Van Gaal, described his substitution as merely a precautionary measure.

Let`s hope there are no ramifications as we seek to get our third win on the trot, against Wigan, to keep our title challenge bubbling along.

Don't you just love international breaks?

Well we knew he was injury prone when we signed him, still wonder whether we would've been better off waiting a year and seeing whether he can go prove he has put his injury demons behind him and pick him up for nothing. Hopefully it isn't anything too serious. I'm sure we can afford to rest him against Wigan, we should be able to brush them aside with Welbeck and Hernandez up top.

Very much doubt he's got anything more than a bit of a dead leg, and as ever, the press are making a mountain out of a molehill to sell papers. I'd lay money on him taking to the pitch against Wigan.
