United Res 1-0 Blackburn Res

Striker Alan Smith, continuing a return from a horrible injury sustained in February turned in what has been described as a solid display against Blackburn Reserves at Ewen fields.

The goal came from Phil Marsh, against a side that contained the likes of Tugay and Franny Jeffers (ok so not that strong). Marsh followed up a penalty which was saved, tapping in the rebound on 14 minutes.

This was also a competitive (if you can call it that) debut for Tomasz Kuszczak, who will no doubt be looking to put pressure on van der Sar soon.

good luck smudge get back in the team soon

Good to see him coming back to fitness. Nobody wants to see that sort of horrific injury, no matter what you think about the team they play for.

This is true. Intresting to see where he plays though. I think he may be reverted back to a forward role.
topkop
yeah probally forward but maybe put back in midfield if no one is doing good there
carrickisours
The worry is, I would imagine, is that he'll always be scared of it happening again - so he might avoid tackles, blocks etc, which would make him less of a player.
NeilBaker
come on smudger we desperately wanted u back...

Good to see Smithy on his way back.
sandgroanun
Nice to see Smith return. No matter who the player is you never wish an injury like that on anyone.
