Evans - Fit to Face Southampton!

Sir Alex Ferguson could find that his central defensive woes have slightly decreased this weekend.

Having been forced to ask Michael Carrick to alongside Nemanja Vidic in the opening two fixtures (Everton and Fulham), there is a real possibility that Jonny Evans could start against Southampton this weekend.

Evans, who was on the bench against Fulham, has remarked about his availability this weekend after playing a full 90 minutes in an U21 fixture against Spurs, commenting to the media,

"Hopefully, I`ll be in contention for Sunday. I felt pretty good."

That`ll be music to the ears of Sir Alex as he ponders over just when Rio Ferdinand, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones will be fit enough for consideration for selection.
