Penalty pain

Penalty pain

United' glamour pre-season friendly with Barcelona in Gothenburg on Wednesday night ended in a penalty shootout defeat.

"Paying the penalty" is something that United literally did as Wayne Rooney missed from the penalty spot in the first half, with this miss meaning the game ended in a 0-0 draw so a reduced penalty shootout determined the outcome of this game.

This shootout was reduced to the best of three and both Nani and Ashley Young, who also missed from the spot for England at Euro 2012 earlier in the summer, missed. To add insult to injury former United youngster Gerard Pique secured Barca's 2-0 shootout win.

Know it's only a preseason friendly but we did look a bit toothless. Barca dominated possession but we looked a bigger threat going forward just our finishing was shocking. Cows arse banjo comes to mind. Don't think I've seen a team have so many chances again barca in about 5 years.
