Rio Charged

Is it all his own fault?

If Sir Alex Ferguson admits that he can`t ban his players from participating in the social networking scene then the news that Rio has been charged by the FA over the a tweet may have our boss fuming.

From the moment Rio got involved in the tweets that were flying around in the aftermath of the John Terry trial, you just knew it was going to end in tears.

Yesterday, in relation to the Ashley Cole slur, the Football Association issued the following statement about the charge leveled at Rio,

"The allegation is that the player acted in a way which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute by making comments which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race."

As for Rio`s reaction, a source has revealed,

"It is fair to say Rio is dumbfounded by this. He saw the tweet as a simple response to one of his followers rather than anything malicious and fears the FA is out of touch with modern-day social networking."

With Rio having until 16:00 hours on Thursday to respond, I can only surmise that the consequences of this charge rest fairly and squarely on his own shoulders, as for the punishment the FA will dish out, no doubt Sir Alex Ferguson will have a few words to say about that.

If Ferdinand truly believes choc-ice meant fake then he should have no issue appealing it. In future though he would do well to choose his tweets more wisely. Twitter is more trouble than it's worth.

Take it we're not signing Ashley Cole then. Who'd want to play with their racial abuser? The whole things been blown out of proportion Rio didn't even make the offensive tweet he just laughed at it. And before anyone gets all holier than tho. You tell me you personally have never laughed at anything inappropriate in your life. Rio should have know better admittedly with twitter being open for the world to view someone was bound to jump on it.
