Could Michael Carrick, having displayed a reluctance to get involved in international football, be on the verge of an about turn?

Well apparently so!

Carrick, who wasn`t interested in being placed on standby for the recent Euro 2012 tournament, has given an interview, down in South Africa, suggesting he would like to pull the Three Lions shirt on again, remarking,

"Yeah I would consider it definitely."

"I haven`t said this before but at the 2010 World Cup I never featured and I was never really close to playing."

"I hadn`t played an international for two years so it was getting to that stage where I wasn`t really playing for England."

"I didn`t kick the door down and say 'You`ve got to play me or I`ll leave."

"It was more a case of it I wasn`t going to play then I`d rather not go with England."

"If you`re not playing at my age, especially under Capello, then it`s not really worth it. That was my decision."


Could Carrick strut his stuff on the international stage again or has his time been and gone?

Fair enough not selecting him when his form went off the rails for those couple of years however when he was displaying quality form last season and was on the mend England were mad not to select him yet select the likes of fat frank and Henderson who? over him. Oh well England's loss and our gain to have a flly fit Carrick ready for next season. Hopefully he chooses not to play for England again.
