Competition for Places!

Last season, Anders Lindegaard had periods whereby you thought he could go on to claim the keeper`s jersey on a permanent basis.

Unfortunately, an injury suffered in training derailed his season.

But with David de Gea away on Olympic duty with Spain, Anders has a chance to impress and possibly claim the jersey for the opening of the Premier League season.

However, talking to the media down in South Africa, Anders explains that he doesn`t want to win the green jersey by default, commenting,

"I want the number one spot because I am the best. I don`t want it because he is injured or he is not there."

"He is a bit in front because he did well last season, so I need to take every chance I get to prove myself worthy of the place."

There`s nothing like competition for places is there!

Very few goalkeepers of Lindergaards age and talent expect to be an automatic number one and look to engineer a move if they aren't. It's great to see lindegaard taking a more humble and hardworking approach to the position though and looking to really try and earn the place.
