'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Left Back Cover?

The insinuation that Sir Alex Ferguson may not have finished his pre-season spending reared its head again in the interview ahead of our first fixture of the clutch pre-season friendly fixtures in the offering.

Expanding slightly on what he offered the press last time out, Sir Alex commented,

"Left back is an area we`re paying attention to."

No doubt talk of continuing the pursuit of Leighton Baines will raise its head but like Sir Alex also hinted, it does give an opportunity for Tyler Blackett or Robbie Brady to make an impression and perhaps grab that under-study spot to Patrice Evra.

We're looking at it but I doubt Baines is our target as always I reckon it will be a younger player. I assume if we sign a LB the RB position will be left for Rafael and Fabio to play for whilst for this season only it will be Rafael and Smalling/jones.
