Evans Set-Back

Evans Set-Back

Yesterday we focused on how Rio Ferdinand was our only first choice centre back out in South Africa.

We mentioned how Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans were all injured whilst Phil Jones was still on recuperation after the exertions of Euro 2012.

We also mentioned how it was expected that all three of those on the injury list would be available for the start of the season, well that might not be the case now with Sir Alex Ferguson commenting on the Jonny Evans situation, remembering that Evans suffered a fractured foot in the 4-4 home draw with Everton towards the back of last season,

"I`m not sure he`ll be ready to start the season."

It`s a cruel blow for Evans who stepped into the breach so admirably after Vidic picked up that horrific knee injury in Basle.

Shame as he was one of our better performers last season. Still not sold on him, he still leaves me feeling nervous sometimes however if he carries over the form of last season he'll quash those worries and prove himself as a quality CB.

Hope Evans gets fit soon. Typical United though new season and yet another defensive crisis. We need some more cover at the back the sooner Fergie remedys this the better.
