Amazulu FC v United

United`s pre-season campaign gets underway tonight when they play Amazulu FC, in Durban.

With several players still not available as they are, either still recuperating from the Euro 2012 tournament, away on Olympic 2012 duty or are simply recuperating from injury, the side that takes to the pitch tonight could be described as experimental or a bit patchy.

However, the fixture does give us the opportunity to see Shinji Kagawa make his debut and also Nick Powell. Kagawa`s class is recognized but United supporters will be looking to see if Powell and carry the good form he showed at Crewe onto a higher stage.

Ahead of the game, Sir Alex Ferguson has already commented on how he perceives Powell is progressing admitting,

"He`s a fine prospect. I`ve seen a few clips of him and watched a few games back home."

"He has an unpredictable style and can play off the cuff. He can pull things out of the hat you don`t expect."

Continuing with his team selection for the game tonight, Sir Alex also added,

"It`s likely that Kagawa will start with Chicharito, Rio, Carrick, Scholes and Valencia will all play too."

"Then there are all the younger players. Lingard will play and young Brady is in at left back."

So whilst we may have inferred that it is something of a scratch side, you have to admit that the projected side does have a strong back-bone and should be more than capable of putting on a good show.

Brady at left back?! Isn't he naturally a winger? Only a 1-0 win but the result doesn't matter just the fitness of the players. Nicely taken composed finished from Macheda, it's only a friendly but it's a reassuring sign and hopefully it's early signs of a comeback for him.
