Fletcher Latest News

It wasn`t too long ago that I expressed my fears about the future of Darren Fletcher.

Struck down by a debilitating bowel condition, Fletcher shows no sign of being able to resume his career with Sir Alex remarking at the press conference today, to herald the signing of Kagawa and Powell,

'He has not started training with us. He has obviously got great challenges ahead. We are happy to be patient but he won't be starting the season. It is unfortunate because he is such a magnificent professional and such a nice lad. If it doesn't work for him, he knows he has a position at the club anyway"

And that is a nice touch from the club although we`d love to see Darren return to full fitness wouldn`t we!

Well done the club for ensuring Fletcher has a role. Would rather see him playing though fingers crossed he finds a way to manage his condition and gets back to fitness soon.

It's such a shame but I can't see fletcher making a return from this and even if he does I doubt it would be at our standard anymore. Unfortunately I can see this going the way of Hargreaves whereby he'll never fully recover and will eventually be released from the club until then we won't sign another midfielder to cover or even strengthen the position due to the fading and unlikely possibility that he may return.
