Vidic Update

I am still of the belief, like so may others I`d suggest, that if Nemanja Vidic hadn`t of picked up that serious knee injury in Basle, then that horrible lot across the City wouldn`t have nicked that Premier League crown off of us.

Unfortunately though, we can`t turn the clock back and we can only look forward, but there is some good news with regards to the return of our Serbian captain. It`s being reported that Vidic has returned to pre-season training early, at Carrington, with the staff making special preparations to get the thirty year-old fit for the start of the season.

With Vidic running again we can only keep our fingers crossed that the final part of his rehabilitation programme proves to be quite uneventful and that the dominant Serbian centre-back is back in first team contention as early in the season as possible.

Great! Easily our best and most influential players. He ensures that defence is solid and we done incredibly well to lose solely on goal difference when you consider we've lost our equivalent to Kompany.
TheFamousNo7
No, you lost your equivalent to Lescott. I'm tired of hearing that crap from U*d fans. Kompany is the more cultured centre back of City's pairing, like Camelgob is the more cultured centre back of U*d's pairing.

Err best CB in the world when fit most certainly isn't an equivalent to Lescott. It's not crap nor coincidence that when Vidic isn't in the defensive line up the discipline, solidity and order of the defence goes to *****. The mans a commanding figure and irreplaceable and us without him are considerably worse. Players like Evra slack and prioritise attacking first and neglect his defensive responsibilities and Evans & Ferdinand not communicating nd jumping for the same header when Vidic isn't about, when he's about they're slapped back in place and know what's expected of them. I'm adamant that had Vidic been fit all season long we would've won the league, I'm certain we wouldn't of let a 10 point lead slip and concede cheap goals to Everton.
TheFamousNo7
If, if, if, blah, blah. Vidic plays the same role as Lescott, physically and aerially dominant type centre backs that don't have much footballing skills.
Bluedub
The fact that you're comparing Lescott to Vidic says it all really and tells how much you know about Vidic. Vidic is a combination of the aerial and physical dominance of Lescott with the organisational skills, leadership, perception and anticipation as well as possessing that effect his sheer presence has on the team Kompany possesses whereby the team has an aura of order, calmness and discipline instantly instilled into them. Whilst he may not be technically gifted, as I've said before, we aren't the same team without him, in fact we are far from it.
TheFamousNo7
Couldn't really blame if you have forgotten Vidic qualities it's been a long time since any of us have seen him play on a consistent basis. However us United fans are reminded more than most during some of our horrific defensive displays just how classy Vidic is in defence and the effect he has on the team. I fear we may never get a full season out of him again and wonder if we might better off looking for a replacement, well that isn't possible but a good commanding CB all the same, someone who won't be letting Evra slack and ferdinand and Evans run into each other.
TheFamousNo7
I'm in no way doubting his quality. I am saying he performs the same role as Lescott. Definitely a question mark hanging over him now with such a bad injury at his age. I think Evra's legs have gone and am not surprised to hear of the alleged interest in Baines. Evans I don't rate at all, fair enough he had a decent second of last season but he's not a consistent enough performer for a top side.
