'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rooney`s View

Now I`m a big fan of Wayne but a few comments I stumbled across in the tabloid press have me puzzled.

Now they`ve either been taken out of context or Wayne is being very optimistic with his views when he`s quoted as having remarked,

"We can hold our heads up high. There are a lot of young players in the squad."

"It`s a sad feeling but it will help us going into the qualifiers for the next tournament."

Hold our heads up high, are you sure?

Held their heads high because they done better than they expected and actually managed to escape the group. However, when it comes to the quality of football we played we've got nothing to pride ourselves about. Weren't many young players either, yeah there was some in the squad but they were hardly ever played.
