Young Scare

Young Scare

It`s probably fair to say that this hasn`t been the best of tournaments, so far, for Ashley Young.

Although Ashley entered Euro 2012 in good form, the manner in which England have played, mostly off the back-foot, has prevented Ashley from seeing as much as the ball as he`d have liked. But that`s not to say that Ashley can`t turn into a match winner, this Sunday, against Italy.

However, there are concerns about his fitness with it being reported that the England medical staff are closely monitoring Ashley after he took a kick below the knee, from Andriy Shevchenko, in the last game.

The concern is such that a decision will be made, after consultation with the medical staff, as to whether Ashley will be able to take part in training today or will be forced to sit out the action.

A regular starter under Roy Hodgson, if Ashley doesn`t recover in time for the clash with Italy, on Sunday, then we suspect that Theo Walcott will be given the nod to play out wide in Roy`s preferred 4-4-2 formation.

Young has had a very poor tournament thus far but in fairness to him he did start to look more dangerous and involved v the Ukraine with 2 or 3 deadly crosses, one of which should've been converted by Rooney.
