'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Strachan wanted Barca, not us!

One of the more pointless stories that'll ever come from Vital Manchester United but ho hum, it's a slow news day.

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has admitted today that when it came to the Champions League draw he would rather have faced Barcelona claiming he was 'sick of the sight' of the Red Devils.

Celtic, along with Benfica and FC Copenhagen are United's Group F opponents in the Champions League group stages.

Strachan said: "I'd rather have had Real Madrid or Barcelona because I've never encountered them before as a manager.

'To be honest, I'm fed up with the sight of Man United," he added. "We've met them twice in the last four months and I'd say they're the outstanding favourites for the second phase, while FC Copenhagen, Benfica and ourselves battle it out for second place.'

Fair enough Gordon, I guarantee you'll be playing up the tie leading up to the first game at Old Trafford.

Ha ha theyd have lost either way!
sexyyid
Looks like we've found the new Rodney Marsh, Sky sports will be on to sexyyid later for some more fantastic anlysis. Celtic have produced some great results against english clubs so id be a bit more cautious, albeit on paper Utd are stronger than Celtic, but then again on paper we were a lot stronger than Benfica last year.

its eassssssssssssssssssssssssy
carrickisours
i cant wait, yes we've been poor we've suffered a terribly poor pre season it was embaracing how your kids tore us apart but this is different we stand as good a chance as any and Parkhead has been a hard place for any team to come to in the CL. i can't wait to come to Manchester (not that i'll have a ticket) expect a party. See you very soon.

Celtic v Man u, how exciting!
tis_red
party, where! I love parties. Are you bringing the drink paulmac?
Salford Red
My match prediction, Celtic 1-0 home, away 1-1. It's going to be very difficult for MU. There's Benfica as well.
jogabonito
difficult for man utd ha ha thats the stupidest thing said
carrickisours
Your an asshole carrickisours, lets hope our players dont have the same stupid opinion as yours or we are *****ed, celtic park is one of the toughest places to play and have you got alzheimers or do you just prefer to blank out last seasons dismal european campaign against noneother than benfica and the mighty villareal, *****ing idiot any team on their day can beat utd especially if silvestre's playing.
Kanchelskis
carrickisours you're a bit ****sure of yourself. You are a much better side than us but at Parkhead we'll take all 3 points. I hope your lot take your attitude going into these games but i can't see it somehow.
paulmac67
Can I have a few more details about this party??????
Salford Red
I agree the nou camp is a hard place to go, but so is parkhead ask barca they got beaten 1 nil there and then drew nil all at the nou camp, if you knew anything you'd realise preseason results mean nothing, celtic got a draw at stamford bridge does that make them chelsea's equal, watford aint a hard place to go but we struggled against a spirited side driven on by home support, now multiply that support by 3 and you'll realise like juve, milan and liverpool have recently why its such a hard place to go. Benfica ,Villareal, Porto shouldn't be hard games for a team of utds stature but we failed to impress. Going by your analysis places like Galatasary or Eastern Europe aint hard places to go just because Utd are a big club, but how many times have we seen supposed underdogs come out on top with a spirited display. Being the stronger side on paper means ***** all if you dont produce the goods on the pitch. No doubt we'll be favourites but were Chelsea not favourites at middlesborough or Arsenal at City. Our team must give opponents the respect they deserve or they are going to get done over, thank god fergie understands this. If football was that predictable as you seem to think i'd be a millionaire just by going to ladbrokes. Nesta said that celtic park was one of the best and hardest venues he has ever played in just because of the fact that the celtic fans are so passionate that they give the players a lift against supposed glamorous opposition, Milan were lucky to come away with a draw from that game. So stop talking crap.
Kanchelskis
just wait until we go there and dominate and why did this place delete my comments
carrickisours
Celtic - more guts.
USA
Why were carrickisours' comments deleted, he may have talked crap but he's entitled to an opinion albeit a wrong opinion.
Kanchelskis
Looking forward to the games already!
sandgroanun
right opinion
carrickisours
Maybe in your head your right but most intelligent people would think your talking crap, for 90 mins reputation means ***** all, play any side in the champions league with an attitude like that and your in for a hiding.
