Fixture Change for Atherton Collieries
Following the FA Cup results last weekend, our home game against Atherton Collieries has been moved forward from Wednesday 19 November to Saturday 2nd of September. Kick-off will be at 3:00 pm.
You Can`t Win If You`re Not In! Get Lucky!
The September 16th home fixture with Silsden will see the launching of our new Fair Share Draw. Raffle tickets will be sold prior to the match at £1 each or in books of five. 50% of the proceeds after cost deductions will be handed over to the winner, and the other half will go to club funds, assisting the building of our teams and our work in the community.
A handful of volunteers will then devote some of their time to collecting, checking and counting the proceeds. At half-time, the draw will be held in full view of the fans. The lucky winner will then be invited to immediately come onto the pitch, or send a representative, to collect a cheque for their winnings, or declare who they wish to be the recipient of the prize (e.g. a charity, an individual, a supporters` group etc).
If you wish to help us raise funds with the Fair Share Draw, Volunteer Now! Please email: linda@fc-utd.co.uk or phone: 0161 236 1070. We will then contact you with details of the various ways you can help.
AGM
The Annual General Meeting is scheduled to take place at the end of October. The date will be finalised once the auditors have completed their work on the accounts. It is expected that notices will be despatched next week.
Students for FC United
This September will see Manchester`s 150,000 full-time students heading back to their colleges. Tens of thousands of these will be football fans new to the city and priced out of attending and getting the big match atmosphere at most grounds in the area. That`s where FC United has a major part to play. We can offer students a great, fun matchday at affordable prices. We can also offer them volunteering opportunities by assisting us in our community development work.
If you are at college or university why not set up a supporters` society through your students union? Contact johnthomason@fc-utd.co.uk if you need assistance.
In particular, all supporters at the Universities of Salford, Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan are asked to get in touch. The three universities are each holding their Freshers` Fayres in the week beginning September 18th. FC United intends to have a stall and a presence at these so that we can establish supporters` societies. Student supporters, and anyone free during the day, can assist by organising or staffing the stalls on the prime Fayre days, helping give out leaflets and signing people up to form our new societies.
Fayre days:
University of Manchester September 20th & 21st
Manchester Metropolitan September 19th & 20th
Salford University September 20th & 21st
Please contact philframpton@fc-utd.co.uk if you can assist in Freshers or wish to be part of a university supporters` group.
FCUM on the Fairways for the FC United Golf Day
FC United in conjunction with Bury FC are holding our first fundraising golf day. It will be held on October 13th (which, you guessed it, is on a Friday) at Whitefield golf club. It will be a fourball betterball team event, but if you have no mates we will team you up with other FC golfers. We will have a meal afterwards along with a guest speaker/comedian for the evening entertainment. Please email golf@fc-utd.co.uk for further information. The cost is £250 for a team of four, or £62.50 individually, which includes all the prizes, meal and evening entertainment.
