Hargreaves to Quit

It`s looking very much as if the ex-United midfield star, Owen Hargreaves, is going to call time on his career.

Hargreaves, who left United last summer after a bad run of injuries, joined our noisy-neighbours on a free transfer, sadly he couldn`t get the match-time he craved and has been released by the new title holders (god that hurts saying that).

But Owen isn`t prepared to just drift through the lower league getting some match time and in an emotional interview, given at the Euro 2012 Finals, has remarked,

"I don`t want to chase something."

"If I get the right fit, I will go for it."

"But I`m not forced to do anything and if I can`t get back to the level I`m used to, I don`t want to play."


That all seems fair enough but it is a crying shame that somebody so talented should have had such a cruel run of injuries.

Poor sod. Doubt he'll ever get back to the level he use to be at if he overcomes his injury problems but he shouldn't let it dishearten him. Hopefully we'll see him kicking a ball again one day and plying his trade again consistently.

Shame, I thought he was a good player and I was happy when he signed for us but sometimes things do not go your way. Hopefully if he does retire from playing he could stay in the game as a coach maybe even help promote the game more in his native Canada.
