Dzagoev Rumour?

Being linked with a move to Manchester United seems to be the norm these days.

Now whether those linked have serious ambitions of joining the biggest club in the world or are simply using our illustrious name to engineer an improved contract is a hugely debatable subject.

But, the merest hint of speculation linking the Russian striker Alan Dzagoev to Old Trafford, after his two-goal brace against the Czech Republic in Russia`s opening Group A game, has seen CSKA Moscow move quickly to head off any interest in their star striker.

Already, plans are afoot to give Dzagoev a new contract thereby keeping the twenty-one year old in Russian football.

Good player, but he was quoted a few days ago as saying he didn't want to leave CSKA (Ok, I know...), and his price will have gone up a few £million with his performance against the Czech republic. Unless you're planning to break into the overdraught, I'd say you've signed all the attacking midfielders you can afford this summer.

This fella was linked to U*d before the Euros started Red Boy. Must try harder.

With only 6 months on his contract he wouldn't demand to high a fee and he has the potential to be a quality player. Wouldn't mind him if the price was right and whilst most Russians before him have struggled in the Premier League I think it's safe to say this kid isn't most Russians and it wouldn't be fair to judge the potential impact he could make on players nothing like him before him. He's not the sort of midfielder we're looking for though.

Its a bit late to be going after Dzagoev, after his performances at the euros there willl be a queue of clubs after him and under our current owners we will not be able to match any other offers he or CSKA receive. It would of been nice to see him in our midfield though but alas the lad clearly isn't a young prospect any more nor will he sell shirts in Asia.
