Rio - All But Over

The shameful events that have gone on in recent days whereby every man and his dog seems to get picked ahead of Rio Ferdinand for England, could have ramifications.

On holiday, in Cyprus, Rio has spoken to the tabloid press about this latest snub being, probably, the end of the road as far as his England career goes with Rio quoted in the red-top press as having said,

"You would have to say it might be over with England for me."

"If I`m not getting picked now, especially when people are out injured, then it`s unlikely I will be picked again."

"I always said I wouldn`t retire from international football until I stopped playing and I won`t. I will still be available."

"And I will be watching England and cheering them on at the Euros because it`s my country and I want us to do well."

An admirable attitude Rio and one that we admire!

If he is on holiday in Cyprus why does he want to speak to the tabloid press. It seems from the utterances from him and his agent that he needs the break. There comes a time when you should leave the stage gracefully.

Hodgsons loss. Fair enough he can't play every game anymore, he just hasn't got it in him however he could've been an invaluable squad member and no doubt he's a better option from the bench than Terry or Kelly for feck sake. His experience and presence there would've helped the squad, more importantly the younger players who are the next generation. Shame he's the victim of Hodgsons bull***** 'footballing reasons' which is just bollox talk for "I wanted to pick Terry, an overrated, average and slow chav with broken ribs instead".
