Modric Deal Draws Nearer

Modric Deal Draws Nearer

Yesterday we speculated that Luka Modric could be bound for Old Trafford.

The speculation brought no end of abuse from Vital Spurs regulars about it never happening.

Strange then that the tabloid press, like a dog with a bone, are refusing to let the matter drop and are of the opinion it is only a matter of time before a deal is struck.

Today the inference is that United will tempt Spurs to part with Modric in return for a fee of £25 million rising to £30 million dependent on appearances.

The deal would also see Modric pocket a cool £125,000 a week, making him one of the highest earners at United.

Now let`s see what those same Spurs lads have to say this time!

I'm still not sure why last year Levy turned down £40m and this year is happy to sell for £25m. I do think he'll go but not for less than £30-40m. Is he worth that? Probably not - but in a market where Andy Carroll is £35m you'd have to say it's what you'll need to pay.

Fergie always uses the sun to unsettle players. As if spurs would accept £25m for him ??? Insanity. We bought him for £17m. Personally i think he is well over rated and would be happy to sell as since xmas he has done sweet fa in a spurs shirt, but come off it guys, £25m ??? £35m and hes yours. The thing that is really annoying is the sun saying it is a done deal. That i very much doubt at that figure.

to me the only reason the red tops are running with this story is because red nose is doing his "lets get the papers to do my tapping up" yet again! the papers will run with this until modric says "its been my dream to sign for Manchester" then we'll be forced to accept your £30 mill cash up front while you accept a player who really isn't worth that much to you, he'll end up not being played and resent old red nose and then want to leave - not to mention of course the £10 mill manure will end up spending by way of a charity donation to stop THFC reporting them to the FA for tapping up AGAIN!!!

sound familiar yet again?

There are official ways to sign a player, why is it that clubs with money seem to think they are exluded from them?

This was only in The Sun; this is nothing more than speculation. I'm sure he will go this summer but not to an English club and for upwards of £35M. If Chelsea find out that he's going for £25M then I'm afraid you'll be priced out and we'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Love the guy but I think he's replaceable and if we can get someone who score more goals then I'd be pleased.

as most of the spurs fans here i do believe the deal will happen, but knowing levy i doubt it would be less than 35mil. My only hope is that a replacement has been found and can be brought in straight away along with other key transfers we need.
