Ashley Gives Good Account of Himself!

If you are looking to impress a new boss, on the international stage , then you could do worse than score the winning goal whilst also looking the most accomplished player on the pitch.

Well that`s exactly what Ashley Young did on Saturday evening when his ninth minute goal gave England a first win under Roy Hodgson, in his first game, whilst continuing to look dangerous as he floated across the front line.

With Euro 2012 just around the corner, it`s only natural that Ashley is keen to express a wish to start in that crucial opening game, against France, with Ashley commenting,

"Wherever the manager wants me to play - off the striker, as a main striker, right, left - I`m going to give everything I can."

"It`s always a proud moment for me to put on an England shirt and if the manager wants me to play in any position, I`ll do that. I think I`m versatile."

"I`m confident in my own ability, and know I can go out there and play well."


On the evidence of Saturday evening Ashley, I`d suggest that you are on of the few, from Saturday, who will get the nod to start against France!

England to be knocked out at the group stage I reckon. A very good performance from Young in an England shirt, then again it's very rare that his poor for England, as he will always put in a shift and his comments about himself aren't wrong.
