Ronaldo Champions Rio

With the finals of Euro 2012 slowly creeping up on us, one of the most exciting players to wear the red-shirt and certainly the most expensive we`ve sol;, has a few views on Rio Ferdinand`s omission from the England squad.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is sure to play a key role as Portugal seek to be crowned European Champions, has remarked about Rio,

"Rio is the best centre-back in England and still one of the best in the world. I don`t understand why he is not in the national team."

"Maybe the coach has justifications and we have to respect those."

"But I have to be honest, I love Rio."

"He`s a great player, great man and he should be in the national team because he would help England do well….maybe win the tournament."

I`ll agree about most of what Cristiano has said but the last few words……..well I can`t see it ever happening can you?

England win a tournament? Yeah bollox... Ronaldo is also flattering Rio here, at one point yeah he was arguably the best CB in the country but that times log gone and he is merely a shadow of his former quality. Don't get me wrong he's still a quality CB and easily still up there with some of the best in the league it's just injuries and age have taken their toll and knocked the best out of him. I'm thankful he didn't go, it will only do his club career good.
