'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Olympic Dream

Although Sir Alex Ferguson didn`t want his United players to be involved in the football tournament at the London Olympics, he did acknowledge that he would let Ryan Giggs participate.

Giggs, having never played in a major tournament, is excited at the prospect of representing Team GB but would like to appear alongside a former United legend and firm friend of his, David Beckham, with Ryan explaining,

"I don`t think it`ll be like 20 years ago when we were both up and down. We might be able to get up but we won`t be able to get back down again."

"Becks is a friend and he`s a great player so if that was to be it`d be great. We started our career playing in the youth team. Twenty years later to be still together would be great."

"Everybody is excited about the Olympics. I`d love to be involved and hope I will be. It would be nice to be involved in a tournament atmosphere because I`ve never experienced it."

If Giggs and Beckham are two of the over-age players then it could be an interesting tournament to watch!
