Quartet Selected for England

The news breaking overnight that Rio Ferdinand wasn`t in the 23 strong party for the Euro 2012 Finals, left many United supporters speculating just who would be selected by Roy Hodgson.

As it turns out there were no further shocks, with the possible exception of the omission of Michael Carrick, when the twenty-three man squad was made public at lunchtime today.

Four United players got the nod from Roy Hodgson, the four being - Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck.

Well done to them but overall I'm quite disappointed with the squad selected. Hodgson went with the same old faces and went with the safe option. England won't make it through the group stages I reckon. Downing 0 goals and 0 assists in the premier league not too mention having the most shots off target. Defoe despite not playin many games for Tottenham and being unable to get in the team ahead of a 33 year old Saha. Johnson at RB but he can't defend to save his life and Richards is better defensively, where it matters most in his position, and has had a better season. Terry's got cracked ribs also if I'm not mistaken. Personally would've took Walcott as a poacher over Defoe. Lennon as a winger and Sturridge as an alternative, no Chamberlain as he's too young and inexperienced. Johnson as back up to Young rather than Downing. Richards at RB with Jones selected as a midfielder instead of Barry/Lampard.
