Omitted!

The curtain appears to have fallen on the international career of Rio Ferdinand.

With his omission, from the Euro 2012 squad being confirmed by the man himself last night, in a testimonial match over in Ireland, it appears that Roy Hodgson has decided that Rio is no longer the man for England.

Unfortunately, his omission means that although Rio played in 10 games in World Cup Finals, he won`t get to fulfill his ambition of playing in a European Championship.

With 81 caps to his name, Rio bows out of the international scene but perhaps his omission may be down to some words inadvertently spoken by Sir Alex Ferguson who was quoted recently as having said,

"You play something like a game every four days, Rio couldn`t do that."

I wonder!

It will prolong his club career so I'm not overly fussed. If called upon to do it though I'm certain Rio could play a game every 4 days.

Not surprising, as his career has been blighted by quite a few injuries in recent years. Father time catches up with everyone. That said, I'd rather he was playing than the disgrace that is John Terry.
