'If It's Football, It's Vital'

He`d Trade All That In For……

Stood on the pitch, at the Stadium of Light, listening in as Manchester City plucked victory from the jaws of defeat; nobody looked as disconsolate as Wayne Rooney when news filtered through that the twentieth title had slipped from our grasp.

There was this vacant look in his eyes, almost as if he couldn`t believe what he had just heard, almost wanting the ground to open up and give him an escape route.

But, Rooney has had a decent season, despite the fact the only silverware picked up was the Community Shield.

He`s ironed out his disciplinary problems and his yellow card count is one that he should be proud of.

There also the small matter of his goal-scoring with Wayne hitting a best ever high in the Premier League of 27 goals and racking up 34 in all competitions, I`m sure you`ll agree a more than satisfactory haul.

That haul has also seen Wayne climb up the list of all-time scorers for Manchester United and we`ve no doubts he will sit on top of that list before long.

Unfortunately though, statistics don`t sit easily with Wayne on occasions like this as we`re pretty sure Wayne would trade all those statistics for another Premier League winners` medal!

But, as we all know, it wasn`t to be!

It's been a fantastic season for Rooney his really come of age and with a bit more clinicality and luck at times he could've finished with the golden boot.
