Baines Interest Gathering Momentum

It wasn`t that long ago that we reported on how the tabloid press was suggesting that Sir Alex Ferguson was keen on landing the Everton left-back, Leighton Baines.

At the time a fee of £6 million was being suggested and the insinuation that Baines could leave Goodison Park to move to Old Trafford for such a paltry fee was met with howls of derision from the Everton faithful.

Today, those same tabloids are carrying on the speculation but are upping the ante by suggesting that Sir Alex still wants Baines and that, to stave off any interest from other clubs, he`s prepare to up the price to £10 million, to stave off any interest from other clubs.

The tabloid press is also insinuating that Sir Alex views Baines as the ideal replacement for the ageing 31 year-old Patrice Evra.

We await any further news and the inevitable howls of derision from Merseyside!

Now this is one player I would love to have,a player who can defend, create chances and lets not forget this guy has a freekick ability that would make becks proud.I'm all for him.A fee of 10-12million pounds would be proper.

What's proper and what the reality is is two different things unfortunately and coming from Everton and at the English premium we would be looking more onthe 15-20 mil range I reckon. There's younger, cheaper and potentially better options out there.
