'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Transfer Move - Is It Speculation?

Transfer speculation has United linked with the Ajax captain.

Although Arsenal and Spurs are thought to be leading the race for Jan Vertonghen, the speculation in the tabloid press reports that Sir Alex is now showing an interest in the Belgian defender.

The twenty-five year old is rated in the 7 million bracket and although the tabloid infer we`re interested you wouldn`t think so when you read through the comments they`ve printed that are attributed to the player, comments that read,

"There`s something going on with Tottenham - but there are more clubs interested in signing me."

"More and more clubs in England realize 'good football` can take you a long way."

See what I mean?

All we can do is sit back and wait and see if anything happens!

He would be a great player but we already have Evans and Smalling,so as I stressed before its not an area to restructure.

Never realised we were even in for Vertonghen to be honest. He's a good CB but looks destined for Tottenham or Arsenal. We've got enough CB's and if we are out for another it's got to be a talented youngster to challenge the other youngsters rather than someone who will expect and demand a first team role with regularity. Priority surely has to be with another natural RB, for competition for Rafael and a LB for competition for Evra and possibly Fabio when he gets back.
