Going East?

The fact that Manchester United chose to give Michael Owen another year on his contract, last summer, surprised many.

Beset with injury problems, Owen has struggled to make his mark this season with injuries once again curtailing a lengthy spell in the starting eleven.

Therefore, we`d be extremely surprised if Owen wasn`t released at the end of this season and already one possible destination has been declared by the media.

They`re suggesting that Owen might be lured to China for one last pay-day with Nicolas Anelka preparing to flex his newly acquired managerial muscle by trying to persuade him to sign for Shanghai Shenhua.

Would Owen leave England for China?

Would Owen leave England for China? Depends how much money is on offer I reckon, no doubt it will be the last big money move opportunity in his career. Whatever happens I hope he isn't offered a new contract with Keane, Macheda, Hernandez, Rooney and Welbeck we don't need him and I can't see him getting into the squad ahead of them. Also, he's struggles with fitness all the time, he's never really fit enough to play let alone make the first team spot his own, thanks Owen but I don't think you're needed anymore.

Now can we give that No 7 shirt to someone who deserves it and has the technical, game changing and match winning ability we've become accustomed to seeing from whoever dons the shirt. Unless a signing comes in it can only be Nani and hopefully the honour will see him add more consistency to his game.

Determination to prove why he should be wearing the shirt? I don't know the poxy psychological effects of the shirt but Fergie gave it to Owen to try and show it's just a number and there's no meaning or substance in it when there so evidently is.

On the subject of Mickey Owen - what's with the outsourcing to the far east? Surely they have perfectly good glue factories in this country?
